John O’Connor Literary Arts Festival
Armagh Marketplace Theatre and Arts Centre

Chris Agee and Jacob Agee (father and son) will read new poems, including some inspired by islands. Both have a longstanding connection to Armagh: Jacob’s grandmother and Chris’ mother-in-law, Peggy McKinney, was from a well-known Armagh family who still run a timber yard on Railway Street.

Chris Agee’s third collection of poems, Next to Nothing (Salt, 2009), was shortlisted for the 2010 Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry, organized by the Poetry Society in London. His next collection of poems, Blue Sandbar Moon, is forthcoming.

Born in Belfast in 1993, Jacob Agee attended Royal Belfast Academical Institution and recently completed a four-year joint honours BA in Jewish and Islamic Civilizations, with Classics, at Trinity College, Dublin. His poetry has appeared in Poetry Ireland Review (edited by the poet John F. Deane), the TCD literary journal Icarus (three times), and Agenda. He is currently doing postgraduate study at Uppsala University in Sweden.

Admission to the event is £5, booking through the John O’Connor Writing School website: www.thejohnoconnorwritingschool.com
